Despite a year of financial hardship, our alumni remained committed to supporting the School’s future. Forty-six percent of alumni donated to the Roll Call this year. Seventy-eight percent of alumni donors from 2018-19 renewed their gifts, and 454 alumni who did not give in 2018-19 renewed their support or gave for the very first time. Alumni provided virtual externships to juniors and seniors, and others participated in a Senior Class Virtual Alumni Panel. Thirteen generous alumni funded a $50,000 challenge during the 24/7 Challenge over 10 days, helping raise almost $300,000 during that effort.
Near the end of the fiscal year, alumni generously gave their time and expertise to help the School launch the Task Force on Racism, Understanding, and Belonging. Since the task force was created this summer, it has led the School’s early efforts to combat racism and do more to build community and a sense of belonging among all students. Dozens of alumni joined our listening forums to discuss the experience of Black and African American students at EHS as well as the experience of other students of color. Black and African American alumni are mobilizing to create a Black alumni network at Episcopal and to help the School examine our culture, curriculum, and structures to identify and eliminate bias and prejudice that may exist.
